Best Christian iPhone App

If you own an iPhone and consider the Word of God something worth having around with you at all times then I present to you pretty much the best iPhone App everYouVersion’s Bible iPhone App.

This thing has 15 different translations available, a “daily read” section, a half-decent search capability (it didn’t find all the search results for some word tests I tried… hopefully this will get better…?), and a very simple and intuitive interface and navigation.

An additional feature is that you can “share” or contribute thoughts, devotionals, etc about a particular verse or chapter.  I’ve taken a look at this feature at the main YouVersion Homepage but haven’t taken advantage of it nor used it extensively.  I know what they are attempting to do here, but, I’m not exactly sure the execution is spot on.

All in all it’s one of my favorite iPhone Apps to have come out and I’ve already used it (which sometimes is the best gauge on how “successful” iPhone apps are).  Sure there’s some cool stuff like Pownce’s app, Twitterrific, Facebook, yada yada yada… but do those bring the hope of salvation to lost men?

Yeah.  I thought so.

  1. I can't agree more. I love this app and it's helped me keep up with a QT Journal.
It's made reading more enjoyable and faster to do studies between versions.

  2. “Meeting God in Quiet Places” A new DVD and Apple iPhone App for you from 2liv4!

For six months every year American author F LaGard Smith abandons the hustle and bustle of modern US life and comes to England to walk, write and meditate in the beautiful tranquility of the Cotswolds. From the rustic charm of his stone cottage LaGard Smith has penned numerous books that explore life and spirituality.
    More information is at http://magpix.co.uk/Pages/MGQP.html

  3. I love this app as well. There's another good one that is a must have called "Jesus Lives – He's Not An Illusion". It somehow uses optics to burn an image of Jesus in your brain. You can literally see Jesus Christ. At the end great bible verses are revealed. This is a truly moving iphone app.

  4. Excellent user-friendly app, and it's free. I tried several Bible apps which I had to delete but this one has my FIVE STARS. Thanks to the developer.

  5. Hi,

If you are planning on celebrating Lent this year, check out "40 Days" at http://40days.samadhigames.com./ This iPhone App lets you track your progress of those things you are abstaining from, or commitments you are honoring. For example, if you commit to abstain from Chocolate or Bad Language, it lets you track how many times you mess up, and you can set it up to collect 25cents from you every time. Once Lent is over, you can see how many times you failed and make donation to a charity or other organization as penance.

    May God Bless,
    Marc

  6. If you enjoy Bible Quizzes, check out Bible Quest titles for iPhone. If you enjoy hangman or missing phrase type puzzles, try Verse Quest titles. Both help you learn and get exposure to a wide variety of Bible Verses.

  7. I love Youversion’s Bible iPhone app!! What is also the “best in class” Scripture memorization app is Mobilize Faith’s Bible Memory. This app rocks! Makes it fun and effective to memorize verses and passages and also let’s you share what you’ve memorized via email and facebook. Check it out at http://www.mobilizefaith.com

    Thanks for your great post!

  8. Thanks for the review… it’s always tough to weed through all of the apps find the best. Once that I’d like to recommend is Bible Verse Journal (http://itunes.com/apps/BibleVerseJournal). This is an app that has a daily reading (with a bunch of different translations available) and the a built-in journal for putting down your thoughts…it’s free!

    Thanks again!

  9. Great review. It’s not easy these days to find apps with Christian contents and it’s good to see people making some great Christian apps or even games! If you know any Christian apps or apps to recommend to Christians, then do share!
One app I want to share or recommend is “MEERKAT SIESTA” which is sort of biblical. It’s an action game with meerkats who you need to help watch and pray. Interesting concept with a Christian message.
I will post a link when I find it.

  10. A little self-promotion: my company just released a fun app named Prayer Cube that brings the experience of a wooden prayer cube to the iPhone and iPod touch. It may be used to make meal time, bed time, or any time more fun, especially for children. Learn more about the app at http://prayercube.pearlcrescent.com/ or search for “Prayer Cube” in iTunes.
