Discovering Talents

How exactly do you go about discovering new talents? Do you just “try” stuff randomly? Is there a method to it? Some sort of process?

God has created each one of us uniquely… like, really unique. I’ve heard tons of stories of people who, in there 60s, 70s, 80s, and even 90s discovering new interests and talents.

That amazes me.

It would suggest, to a certain degree, that I still have no idea about all that I’ve been uniquely gifted to do, accomplish, and enjoy.

That is fascinating.

Just as fascinating as this kid.

  3. It would help if you defined ‘talents’. Do you mean something innate or something developed?

Many people don’t think about talents.

Ask how they arrived at a hobby that they’re pretty good at, and you’ll get some good answers.

Others think about skills, and spend a bit of time developing them. If the time spent is productive, they will be far more competent. If not, perhaps they lack the talents to analyse it for themselves to progress, or to learn.

How talents and what we see as skills and hobbies link together, I have no idea. Everything is a sliding scale of abilities anyway.

A useful tip – if you’re trying to make a living from what your talents may be, you don’t have to be the best in the world at one talent. Instead, mix two of your talents, and the amount of competition drops off drastically.

A great speaker does not become great simply by being good at the art of speaking, but they must analyse and develop content, they must learn to work with the audience. Even being an ‘effective communicator’ is a mixture of talents anyway.
