dreaming

What are you dreaming about these days? What’s on your mind? What are your far reaching goals?

Perhaps more importantly, are you moving in the direction of your dreams? Or are you just sleeping?

  1. school and defining my personal and business projects + re-design/re-creating my office

  2. Long story, but I found myself late last year not knowing how to answer that. I seemed to have let dreams & vision slip away as I became a part of the ministry machine. I've been praying this prayer since Jan. everyday – "Lord what are your dreams & visions for me? What do you want my life to look like?" See there are plenty of things I can do, but I want that sense of God's calling into the things I should be doing, because I'm called, not because it's a good idea. I have been on a path towards narrowing the focus of what I do- moving towards my creative abilities, and away from the "whatnot". As a church, we are seeking to creating an unbelievable environment that the people of Long Island would discover their role in God's amazing story. And we're running after that hard. Sorry if this is long, just hits me where i'm living.

  3. wow, thanks for sharing that…! it's encouraging actually.

  4. I'm dreaming about creating environments for people to connect with God and others. (distant future)

I'm dreaming about using business and ministry to create something that tells breathtaking stories. (medium future)

I'm dreaming about getting out of college intact. (that would be now)

  5. Dreaming about mountain biking . . . in the mountains. ;)

  6. I hear you on that one. I went out on Wednesday to my favorite trail and realized they had added on. Needless to say it was awesome.

  7. I'm dreaming about a lot right now.

I want to open up a coffee shop owned and operated by the church I go to.

I want to help create leadership resources for InterVarsity leaders.. I'm in leadership at our Drake University chapter.

I want to write articles that I can share on Relevant Mag, Collide, etc. Maybe even write a book someday.

I want to be in ministry when I graduate in the spring. What that looks like is completely in the air, but I'm dreaming.

I've noticed recently that once you actually start LIVING out your dreams and working on them, they become way more real, and way more doable. You just have to find that will to start. It looks daunting getting into, but only because Satan likes to make our dreams look unattainable.

  8. I want to make a movie :-)
Certainly do a lot of editing and camera work, but alas – still learning to get my dream contagious

  9. I'm down here in the Dominican Republic watching God's amazing work and keeping all my senses open to his promptings. Grateful that his plan is better than anything I can dream up. Been amazing so far. Dreaming about the kids I'm working becoming doctors, lawyers, baseball players etc. I'm dreaming them becoming godly men and amazing leaders, fathers and husbands. I'm dreaming about them transforming communities. I've been amazed by the stories of how their lives were changed and I'm dreaming about all impact they are going to have on others.

  10. I am dreaming of planting a church. I began this path about 4 months ago, some obstacles got in my path, and ended up not following through. I am burning to preach the message of Jesus to others.

I am dreaming of finding a job, preferably as a ministry intern. I would love to work along side a former, or current, church planter and learn that way. Actually, any job will do at this time! But I would love it to be directly ministry related.

I am dreaming about not being haunted by my failures. I mess up, I get things wrong, and I beat myself up for it. I cannot seem to just accept me for me.

I am also dreaming that my daughters become passionate Jesus lovers and see them talk spiritual conversations with their mother.

  11. I am dreaming about finding a job.
But ultimately I am dreaming about becoming a resource to the Church. Whether it be through my blog where I share resources or my designs for the churches that cannot afford these huge companies to make logos and graphics for them, I dream that God will use my ability to help others.

      • Great question, I have no clue.
I love working with media stuff, but I also like working with people (specifically students/young adults).
I would really like to work in a church doing some sort of media. I would love to work with a team that gets "it"
we are working together towards a common goal. A place where they believe in media and want to continue to push the envelope with media. I don't really know what it looks like to be honest. I am as confused as anyone else as to what I want to do.
As of now, I sit in my parents basement, designing logos, working on my websites and staying up to date with what is going on in the church world. But I want to be out serving somewhere, with a team.
I just don't know where and what that looks like.
I use to be a teacher for Jr High guys, but the school made big budget cuts, and I was one of those cuts. So I find myself without a job, but a hope for the future.

  12. I've been a photographer since 1992. I loved the idea of capturing specific moments in time and ran with it. After a few years I was doing portrait work and really working my way towards the possibility of doing it professionally. When we moved to Florida, I had to take a cut in pay from my job and with a new baby on the way, bills needed to be paid. I had to part with all of my equipment. Then the digital revolution struck, and while I bought digital cameras, I wasn't going to be satisfied until I got an SLR in my hands. That happened a little over a year ago. Last December, somebody who had seen some of my stuff on Flickr asked if I would do a portrait of their family for a Christmas card. Somebody saw that and asked if I would do some engagement photos for them. That led to another referral and another and so on. Now, I am doing family portraits every couple of weeks. It has my made my schedule go crazy and I LOVE IT.

The dream? The dream would be to one day hand in my resignation at my corporate IT job and say, "I'm going into photography full time."

  13. Dreaming about bringing a Christian influence and perspective to foreign affairs

Looking into going back to school for a second degree, unfortunately this economy is making it hard to even balance a budget….

  14. What i'm dreaming about these days…well i'm planning to raise up some money for a leadership/missions trip to Peru in 2010 (any ideas anyone on how i can do this via the web?) Also trying to teach myself html and css with books from library and youtube.

  15. I am dreaming about capturing the imagination of college students on the campus of USC (Columbia, SC) with innovative yet authentic experiences at worship…that's a long statement I know; I'm working on it.
