I HEART You American Express

americanexpress_hacked

Yesterday I was doing my work, not bothering nobody when I get an email stating that a charge on my American Express has occured… and they didn’t think it was me.

Neither did I.

Saw the phone number right on the email, called it right away, tapped out my security credentials and then was picked up by a very nice lady who confirmed my identity, stopped the payment, handed me off to another guy who got me a new card in the mail in less than 5 minutes.

shortshortsTops.

It took me longer to cut up my credit card than it did to /pwn the hacker who somehow managed to buy a buttload of “short shorts” (read men’s underwear) off of ebay.

Wow, I do like you very much American Express. You make “blue” the new cool for credit cards.

  1. Oh, and I'm not just saying this to be disagreeable (this time), but Amex annoys me. They are constantly calling me and inquiring if I made such and such a purchase. They even deactivate my card and refuse big purchases sometimes, all in the interest of protecting "me."

    Horse-squeeze, I say!

They aren't protecting me. The agreements I signed state that Amex is to protect me from the consequences of fraudulent use of my account. That means I don't have to pay if some bozo takes my credit card to the cleaners. All of their calls are really about saving THEM money at the expense of MY time.

    Not cool.

  2. AmEx seems to rock. You even get buy-one-get-one-free at Snowshoe for your lift ticket. What other reason is there to get one?? :)

I may have to consider swapping out my Visa.
