Korea – Day 4 – Words Are Not Enough

korea_081209033

Words are simply not enough.

And often times it can be so frustrating when the words cannot be found to communicate the deepest emotions.

What words can be used to express the joy of finally meeting the mother that gave you life?

What words can be used to express the feelings of anger after discovering their life was made up of a series of strategic lies?

What words can be used to express the feeling of despair when told that your parents passed away only weeks before your arrival?

What words can be used to express the shock after realizing that you’re actually a twin?

What words can be used to express the feelings of shame and guilt after becoming aware of one’s dark past?

What words can be used to express the hope that is birthed when told that one’s parents are alive and are looking for them?

What words can be used to express the feelings of jealousy when one sees others meet their parents knowing that you’ll never have the same chance?

What words can be used to express the feelings of hate and discord toward those that had caused so much pain?

What words can be used to express the anguish of discovering that what you thought was your name and age is untrue?

What words can be used to express the relief of forgiveness?

What words can be used to express power of a hug?

What words can be used to express love?

These are but a few of the feelings that many of us are experiencing this week.  The feeling of nausea is daily… and yesterday I encountered every single one of the aforementioned emotions… and the following is just some of how it looked, in chronological order:

  1. those photos at the orphanage made me so teary… wow. really glad Los plugged you and this adoption journey on his site. i guess now it's credit, not blame, that i'm giving him :P

  2. I should know better than to check your blog while I'm in starbucks any day this week unless I'm ok with crying in front of the local masses. Beautiful coverage, John. Still praying!

  3. "John Saddington, that's my name!"
Took a while to load and lagged a lot, but got through them all (my internet connection in Athens is horrible). I appreciate the updates, thanks for sharing these days through your blogs! It's hard to catch all the stuff that you guys are seeing and experiencing through 5 minute chats!
Only several hours til the hour, and I will be praying for you two! Don't bother Petey while he takes his exam :p keke
