My Secret to Designing a WordPress Theme

turnofftwitter

Turning off Twitter really, really, really works.

That’s my secret sauce.

In fact, to do anything remotely productive these days requires me to turn that darn thing off completely… I’m moving to a point where I need to work on a box that doesn’t have any desktop apps installed and blocking Twitter.com on my wireless router.

That’s how I get it done.

How do you stay productive living in a Twitter-world?

  1. John — I totally agree. Would like to see if any research has been conducted on productivity lost during the workday. I suspect many companies will begin to create policies concerning use of Twitter.

  2. Bugger. I thought I was going to peak into a new found way of doing things or gather some tips on how to tighten up my designs, but nope you go on and lead me down a stupid goose chase that all started on… Twitter.
    *hanging my head in shame.

  4. ;) puaha. more of that real stuff to come…

  5. BLAST! Twitter can be very distracting… it's another shiny thing that takes my focus off my to do list! But most of the time if I get "in the zone" it's not too hard to get things knocked out! Have you registered with weFollow?

  6. actually, sometimes twitter helps me be MORE productive, if I'm getting input and answers. Otherwise, unless I'm doing web-work, I'm best turning it ALL off – especially Mail.app … I just can't bring myself to ignore that red circle with numbers in it.

  7. tempting… i know…!

  11. I turn off Twitter, mute the cell phone, put on some headphones and listen to a little music to distract me from my surroundings and keep me focused on the task at hand.
