I officially started my new gig @ Beliefnet.com this week. It’s been a whirlwind of activity, lots of new faces (and names), 2 12hr work days (and who knows what today will be!), and even more meetings. Intense!
But the feeling is awesome.
I’ve got an amazingingly passionate, motivated, and hard working team and I am confident that we’re going to be doing some great and very cool things.
Besides leading the drive for a world-class Social Networking platform for our users, I’ll be contributing to the overall strategy of not only our external but also internal social media community goals. And it’s the latter that really gets me going. One of the biggest issues that I had with a past employer was that we did not necessarily ‘practice what we preached,’ sotospeak; we provided our very large community with state-of-the-art social media properties which created some amazing community and brand awareness but internally, we were in the stone age. I believe this discrepancy is a glaring misstep in a business’s social media strategy: If you don’t believe in what you do, neither will your audience.
So cheers to change!
Keep an eye out on the Social Networking and Community part of Beliefnet… because it’s going to get a whole lot better!
Here are some pics of the office, and a view from my spacious hotel room… yes, they gave me an HP!!!
