Maintaining Commitment

Maintaining commitment in your relationships is tough. For most of us (all of us really) it takes intentionality, effort, and a lot of time and practice.

Here are a few strategies that can help keep that commitment level high:

  • Develop or maintain a strong commitment to God.
  • Improve attitudes.
  • Practice acts of kindness.
  • Acknowledge frequently you have a lifelong commitment to each other.
  • Don’t allow competitors to interfere with your commitment.
  • Practice common courtesy.
  • Be one another’s most faithful cheerleader.
  • Develop and demonstrate empathy.

Some of these are very practical while others will take time to develop. Make it a priority this year!

 

Rules for Fighting Fair in Marriage

We don’t fight very fairly, do we? Honestly it’s more fun when we don’t because we do more damage – but we know the end result isn’t good either way.

The goal isn’t to stop fighting or have disagreements; that’s impossible. The goal is to have conflict in a way that is honest, open, and free of as much evil as possible. Conflict is inevitable and under the right care it can even be beneficial and edifying.

Seven Unfair Fighting Tactics in Marriage

Marriage is tough – it’s the toughest thing that I’ve ever done and apparently it’ll continue to be like that for as long as I live.

Oh well! What this means is that spending time making my marriage better is vitally important.  Here are seven unfair fighting tactics that many use in their marriages – and you need to stop doing that!
