I love reading. I don’t nearly have the time I used to but I’m fighting for it.
What has happened as a result is a very select reading schedule and I’ve become super-selective with what I’m actually going to be reading.
Rework, by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson (the Founders of 37Signals) had me literally after 1 page.
Not sure if Chris did this on purpose but when I found the book on my desk the cover had page 38 bookmarked; I read it and was hooked:
We all have that one friend who says, “I had the idea for eBay. If only I had acted on it, I’d be a billionaire!” that logic is pathetic and delusional. Having the idea for eBay has nothing to do with actually creating eBay. What you do is what matters, not what you think or say or plan.
Love it.
I knew that I would like it because I’ve already subscribed to a lot that the 37Signals guys prescribe (I mean, my team at 8BIT uses their software!).
If you’ve got the time I’d seriously consider getting the book. Looks like an easy and fun read.

You have to be careful with these guys (37s). I loved their first book “getting real”. I probably adapted too much of their thinking early in the the life-cycle of our company before we had good processes in place. I think the thing that they don’t talk about is building web applications for other people. That is very different then building it for yourself. You can “get real” when building for yourself or your own company on your own money. It simply does not work when building for a client.
I am anxious to (cautiously) read this book as well b/c I like the way they think.
you’re just scared about awesomeness.
That is the most incredible reply ever.
agreed. i’m giving away three copies of it this week at http://www.timschraeder.com
buying and uploading to kindle for BB …love their thought-process…
That paragraph really makes me want to read the book too. I had heard about the book, but hadn’t heard anything that made me pull the trigger yet. I definitely think I’ll put this in my audible stream now.
