Tony Hsieh: Who is Your Customer? What Are Their Needs?

[tentblogger-youtube GxursecvI-s]

Good times.

Here’s another Blog Post Jump Starter for your blogging needs and I feel that this one could really help not only you but also your readers:

Who is your customer on your blog? What are your customer’s greatest needs and how can you answer that need?

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about customer service, especially since after reading Tony Hsieh’s book, Delivering Happiness, and how that applies to blogs that grow and become successful.

Blog today answering those two questions above and would love to see your thoughts!

Thank you, John for having this guest! He really spoke to my heart! I currently don’t try to make money with my blog as it is my passion. Sometimes I forget that and start to stress that it is already Post day and I don’t have anything. This video put things into perspective. I write because I believe I have something important to say that will benefit people, make them smile and cause them to think about life and their particular journey through it. Thanks to this person who “get’s it” and thanks to you who “got it” as well. Have a great day! :)

My husband and I have the ‘happiness’ part down, but it always seems that the kind of financial success we would like to see comes only at the risk of sacrificing the things that are most important to us. We have spent years helping our son through a difficult journey with Asperger’s Syndrome and we’re rocking a truly joyful marriage. I write professionally at home, but my husband hasn’t yet found the right fit professionally to keep all this good stuff at home going and still make money.

Stories like Tony Hsieh’s and the ‘Tentblogger’ story, too, help us keep hope alive that professional success and our commitment to family don’t have to be an either/or commitment.

    Thank you!

sure thing emily! what is your husband looking to do?

His career path has been mostly in the event planning field and he is great at it. He has so many skills – administrative, communication and people skills. He just launched a blog for men w/ challenges to be men of integrity and engage w/ their families in meaningful ways… http://mannuggets.wordpress.com/

He got nervous when I told him “THE Tentblogger” was checking out his blog. :) Thanks, though.

    Hi John,

I enjoyed this very much and I think it makes perfect sense. For me, I want to be able to support myself and family by writing e-books. I blog about topics that are near and dear to me, but the other purpose for the blogs is to eventually help me sell books. That’s my passion. I want to do the same thing he talks about, have fun, make money and, hopefully, help some other folks in the process.

John, I’ve noticed on my blogger stats, I’m getting lots of hits from http://html-redirect-code.com/

I’ve installed there code on any other web site, so I’m confused as to why I’m getting so many hits from this re-direct site. Any ideas?

i’d have to know more about the setup to help diagnose what’s really going on. interesting…!

There is so much spiritual application in the things that Tony Hsieh says here…whether that was intended by him or not. I think this is a “Jump Starter” I can really integrate well into my blog theme.

As a manager of people, I will be interested in reading the book for insight into how I/we can invest more in our employees and volunteers. Thanks for sharing.

I agree Randy. There are many applications for the church here in the video.

Yes…I expect there will be an upcoming post on eFlections about this. :-)

Yeah, Tony has an amazing philosophy on business. I actually just saw him speak at FOWA (Future Of Web Apps) in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. I also scored some free zappos books and swag I will be giving out next week. The guy should wear a shirt everyday that says “doing it right”. I’ll also be posting the video from the conference.

oh man, let me know when that video is up!
