The Applications in My Macbook Air’s Dock (OSX)

[tentblogger-vimeo 17811918]

A few people have asked about the applications that sit prominently on my dock on my desktop (I’m using Mac OSX on my Macbook Air).

They are listed here as well, left to right:

  1. Finder
  2. iA Writer
  3. Apple Mail
  4. iCal
  5. Firefox
  6. Safari
  7. Google Chrome
  8. Tweetie for Mac
  9. Gabble for Yammer
  10. Skype
  11. iChat
  12. Coda
  13. Evernote
  14. Photoshop CS4 (sorry, not 5!)
  15. Acorn
  16. Base App (for Basecamp)
  17. Screenflow
  18. Skitch
  19. ImageOptim
  20. CloudApp
  21. Dropbox
  22. TextEdit
  23. iTunes
  24. Quicktime
  25. Picasa
  26. Image Capture
  27. System Preferences

And, that’s about it! What’s on yours?

How do you create the gaps in your dock? I find myself repeatedly clicking on the wrong icon and some space between them would be great.

I’m a baby Mac convert so keep it simple :)

how’d you do the gap in between your icons?

  • Gabe

Yeah, same issue. I found this terminal command that isn’t working for me:

    defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add ‘{tile-data={}; tile-type=”spacer-tile”;}’

    then enter: killall Dock

  • Gabe

Oops. It is an issue with quotes. Here’s the command:

    defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add “{ ’tile-type’ = ‘spacer-tile’; }”

    Press enter, then type:

    killall Dock

This creates one space you can arrange accordingly. Just duplicate for more.

Thanks John for sharing these killer apps!

I’ve got Finder, Mailplane, Chrome, Fraise (really simple text editor), Coda, iTunes, Times, Echofon and Skype. I use Alfred of quickly opening anything else!

How does Alfred compare to Quicksilver? I find QS to be brilliant and easy.

  • David Santistevan

How do you separate apps within your dock like that?

    • David Santistevan

Haha. Nevermind. Just read the responses :)
