Reading: Steve Jobs

I’m really doing only one thing this weekend (besides hanging out with my beautiful family): Reading Steve Jobs.

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend that’s full of fun, family, friends, and good reads! Of course, I’ll most likely share a few thoughts after I finish the gargantuan book – I’ve already learned a few incredible things about him as well as learned a few things about myself. I’ve previously shared a few things about blogging like Steve Jobs too.

Good books do that you know.

What are you reading these days?

I’m looking forward to reading Isaacson’s book soon. I just finished “Tell to Win” by Peter Guber and am currently reading “The Barefoot Executive” by Carrie Wilkerson.

awesome! how are you doing on this?

I won a copy of Barefoot Executive from Michael Hyatt’s blog, so I put it aside until I could read it and mark it up. So I just started reading “Drinking From the Fire Hose” by Christopher J. Frank and Paul Magnone. I am also re-reading “The Noticer” by Andy Andrews.

One of my favorites is Geurilla Lovers by Vince Antonucci! Wonderful book about spreading Jesus to others in tangible ways!

  • http://www.tillhecomes.org Jeremy Myers

    Not gonna read it…

However, I heard he spent half an hour once trying to decide which shade of gray should be used for a bathroom sign in one of the Apple stores. Now that is attention to detail!

I will not be reading this book, any time soon, but I am a fan of the innovation that Steve Jobs had. He was a great man.

I just placed an order for this a couple of weeks ago and can’t wait for it to arrive. Even though I was never much of an Apple user, Steve fascinated me to no end and was a constant inspiration.

I’m reading Steve’s Biography too, but on iBooks. I think that’s the way he would want it.

Oh, one thing… I’m incredibly amazed how much he cried. Hilarious.

    • http://john.do John Saddington

seriously. he wept a lot. emo…. but i don’t count that against him.

I like enjoying someone’s life and celebrating the impact they had on the world. But from a spiritual perspective, I have heard little from the Christian community about Steve Jobs spiritual beliefs regarding Buddhism. Did you find much of that in the book? Not many people ever stop to consider, “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet forfeits his own soul?”

    • http://john.do John Saddington

i did… and it’s very interesting. he had some great thoughts on this.

  • Stuart Wooster

I just happened to pick the book up half price over the weekend John. I kept reading snippets that people are writing on their sites via various links on my Twitter, so thought I’d better just read the book instead!

    • http://john.do John Saddington

and…. how are you doing through it?
