I’m so excited to announce that I’ve already got our next local Meetup scheduled and on the map: Blogging & Online Publishing Essentials, Must-Haves for a WordPress Theme!

We’ll be hanging out at the one-and-only The Work Spot in historic Duluth, one of the best coworking spots in Atlanta and we’ll be walking through a number of neat things related to blogging, WordPress Themes, and more!

I’ve learned a lot about blogging since publishing my first blog post over 10 years ago and the technology has changed dramatically since then – heck, I published my first “post” by uploading a HTML document via FTP and hitting “refresh”…!!!

Having a background in development, especially around WordPress, I’ve learned a thing or two about what makes a great publishing platform, and specifically a WordPress Theme.

I’m going to distill 10 years of learnings into an essential group of must-have features using the Standard Theme publishing platform as the example.

Bring your laptops and be ready – we’ll walk through together and it will be very “workshop-esque”!

Standard Theme, for those unfamiliar, is one of the most well-crafted blogging and publishing WordPress Themes out there created by my startup team 8BIT – in March of 2012 we became the 5th Partner to Automattic (founding company of WordPress) and WordPress.com based on the superior quality code, infrastructure, and publishing philosophy that we have.

I’ll give you the inside look into what makes it tick as well as what you’ll want to make sure you have for your own publishing efforts as well as what you should most definitely have in a WordPress Theme!

You won’t need the Theme to take away practical advice for your own blogs, both personal and professional (business).
