Rest in peace Aperture and iPhoto – you were two great apps that made a lot of people very, very happy:
With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture,” said Apple in a statement provided to The Loop. “When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS X.
And iPhoto will be replaced by the new Photos App that’ll be released in conjunction.
Yikes. Lots of changes coming down the pipe besides iOS 8. It doesn’t surprise me that the world has turned its attention on photos and a variety of solutions, both desktop and mobile, to accommodate the rapid expansion of photo uploads and devices that capture them.
Sometimes, if I’m honest, I’m paralyzed when I think of all the changes that are rapidly happening within the image-sharing and image-capturing and image-editing field. It’s more than one organization can manage, let alone an individual.
It makes me want to just “wait and see” for a season and see how all of this comes out in the wash…
