I laughed… but only for a second:
I realized that this is “evil” only in the context of, perhaps, a larger enterprise and/or business… because in startup-world… working on the weekend is, more often than not, par-for-course.
But, it’s not that I, personally, demand that my team works over the weekend (that’s up to them and their own schedules) but I choose to work when I can because there’s so much to get done.
What I’ve realized is that it’s not about working on the weekends… it’s really about the freedom of choice that’s much more important (i.e. agency). If I (or my team) want to work on the weekends then it’s all good; no judgement and no hidden expectations.
No “casual evil” here.
