Larger Than Oneself


Chronic loneliness is a difficult nut to crack, but there’s some evidence that homing in on a mission or purpose larger than oneself — which often requires working with others — can help isolated individuals successfully integrate back into the social fold.

There’s an epidemic of loneliness that more folks are not only identifying in their own lives but also in the lives of others.

Although there isn’t a one-size-fits-all type of solution as every situation is as unique as the person themself, there are definitely some ingredients that seem generally useful, like having a purpose much bigger than ourselves which oftentimes requires a healthy community and relationships.

Building tools that can help folks to connect, communicate, and build strong and useful relationships is something that I’m slightly obsessed with these days, especially now that the software we’re building has many of these types of issues in mind.

The biggest breakthroughs that I’ve had in my life has always been in the context of community, where another person in my life has the courage to push me in a slightly different direction.

I look to do the same with others.
