Network Effects (and Your Life)

Love these high-level thoughts:

Kenobi: A Jedi can feel the Force flowing through him.
Luke Skywalker: You mean it controls your actions?
Kenobi: Partially, but it also obeys your commands.

Network effects are everywhere and many of them you can control while others you obviously cannot (e.g. where you were born, what network you were born into).

You can change some of these things but those types of things require an incredible amount of courage. I’m reminded that life shrinks (or expands) accordingly, so, The Force is more available to us than we know.

Next-level thinking is when you take this approach to your staff and team. Even farther is choosing geography for your startup (which may or may not provide tangible benefits).

Go deep into personal areas and you can think about how to set up your kids to maximize the foundation of their network(s) and the downstream effects. Ooph, that’s heavy.

Traveling, for instance, is one such thing that we can do to objectively change and intentionally grow our aggregate network as a family (and everything that touches those decisions).

What fun.
