I’ve made the tough but important decision to kill a project just before it goes live. That project… sniff sniff… is George.
I’ve been working on this ToDo List app actively since June / July of last year but it’s been part of my general psyche for many, many years.
But, the reason that I’ve decided to kill the project is because I simply do not have the time, energy, and emotional bandwidth to release it to the wild and then support it actively to the community that deserves that support.
I think I made the decision a while ago but it took a bit of time for my heart to catch up with my head. Like most projects, this one was pretty close to the chest, specifically designed for my own personal use with the hopes of giving it away to the public for their own use.
And in a way it feels like a pretty dismal failure, especially since the project is essentially “code complete” – I could literally upload it to the iOS App Store today and folks could be using it tomorrow.
More specifically I feel as if I’ve let myself down on this one (and the hundreds of folks who were waiting on it). But I have to be able to let go of the good so that I can focus on the great.
And bitcoin and blockchain technology and the entire industry as a whole is, as I’ve mentioned before, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m not going to miss that because I wanted to ship a ToDo List App.
I mean, just saying that aloud a few times makes the decision all the more easy. Isn’t that something?
Goodbye George. Maybe we’ll catch up later.
