Small Reminders

I have a long and deep history with mental disorders and my struggles with chronic anxiety and depression can have a lot of downstream effects if not handled or treated well and with care.

Recently, I’ve been struggling with a bit of memory loss which we now know is directly tied to my chronic stress and chronic fatigue (I’ve got an ever-expanding medical team which I’m so grateful for!).

This isn’t a surprise, really, because trying to be a somewhat decent husband and father to three amazing kiddos (one of which is a 1-year old who still doesn’t sleep through the night!) in addition to building a company is really, really hard.

Consequently, my best friend has had to help me even more so these days to remember important things and the best coping mechanism that we currently have is visual signs all around the house, like so:

I’d chuckle and find a lot of humor in this if it wasn’t so necessary… and honestly my wife shouldn’t have to do these types of things, but, it’s what we’re working through right now.

Our goals for this season (and for the rest of my life) is to (re)create workflows and coping strategies and to build environments that are exceedingly healthy so that my mental health can be at its very best.

And, at the very least, we’ll get to remove a lot of the beautiful hand-made signs around the house.
