A Few Thoughts on Video Blogging and Getting Started

A bunch of people have asked me for my thoughts on video blogging and some of the tools that I use. I share all of that in 5 minute video embedded above.

For those that are scanning, here are a few tidbits that I talk about in the video:

Broadcasting to the airwaves...

  1. I’m not a professional video blogger or vlogger. It’s apparent as you can hear some background noise and some fuzziness even in this video post (sorry!).
  2. I use Quicktime on the Mac OSX for my video recordings. I am looking for a more robust system (perhaps a real camera) but right now I’m quite happy with the native app that’s already installed.
  3. My suggestions for getting started? Just get started! Period!
  4. I like both YouTube and Vimeo! You can’t go wrong with either.
  5. Here are some of the reasons why I think it’s a good thing to do some video: Authenticity!
  6. I use Screenflow for screencaptures.
  7. Keep it practical.
  8. Keep it personal.
  9. Always present a challenge to your audience!
  10. And don’t forget to have fun!
